Gods

The ancient gods of the Nebula came in three pairs: the giving sun goddess giver of life pairs with the weeping death goddess, the broad and smiling Kibenya the goddess of water, fertility and wealth pairs with the reaching god of the the sky and movement, and lastly the serpent, god of trade pairs with the earth god.

As Mazwai puts it in one of the fragments of her chronicles found in the Heaven's Vault books

"The names and purposes of these Gods are lost and only their arrangement remains. two groups of three, stacked upon each other, as if to form a star. It is said that the correct arrangement allows the Gods to oppose and connect in such combination as to provide the mysteries the Nebula requires. Life and death join to form the Loop. Water and motion to form the rivers."

It is unclear what phenomenom the serpent god and the earth god represent.

"It is also said that by arranging six gods a seventh is brought into being: an overseer god, through whom the other gain their power. If the two triangles are placed together, the master god can be thought of as the six-sided shape that is seen, without substance to emerge in the center. About this seventh god little is known. It was perhaps, all things to all people, and nothing, all at the same time. a convenient prop, then, for a lack of true comprehension."
